SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY The M.I.C.E.®, OptiMICE®, ErgoMICE® and OptiRAT® Systems operate without the use of electrically powered blowers or motors. This reduces your facility's electrical consumption. Our systems connect directly to the animal room air exhaust. Since there are no blowers mounted on the rack, there is no heat, noise, or vibration induced in the cage, rack, or room. This reduces your building cooling costs and provides a lower stress environment for your animals. 1. Fresh or HEPA-filtered air (represented in blue dots) is supplied by your HVAC system to the animal room. 2. This fresh air (blue dots) is filtered again as it is drawn into each cage on the rack by controlled exhaust ventilation at the same temperature and relative humidity settings as the room. 3. Air is drawn through the inlet and exhaust filters as it passes through each cage. The filtered exhaust air (red dots) then travels through the rack plenum and out the room exhaust through the vent hose in a controlled, low-velocity, one-pass airflow. M.I.C.E.®, OptiMICE®, ErgoMICE® and OptiRAT® Systems cage air distribution pattern is one-pass, low-velocity airflow without re-entrainment or leakage. The system achieves a total volume air change within the cage providing good air quality to the rodents. There are no drafts, turbulance or high turnover of dry air within the cage, providing a very stable micro-environment. 4. Both cage-air and room-air (represented in yellow) exhaust directly to outside via building HVAC. The M.I.C.E.®, OptiMICE®, ErgoMICE® and OptiRAT® Systems protect animals and personnel and provide a flexible, high-density standard environmental and microbiological conditions, and an optimal environment at cage and room level.
