OptiRAT®
The eagerly awaited follow-on to the highly successful OptiMICE® has arrived! The new OptiRAT® system is here. Available in production quantities in
now, it created quite a buzz at the national AALAS Conference this year in Charlotte.
The OptiRAT® has the same footprint and height as the OptiMICE®, ventilates using the same connections and hoses, and maximizes parts interchangeability.
With 42 rat cages arrayed in seven rows of six cages per row, the OptiRAT® again sets a standard for animal density, animal comfort, user ergonomics, and
overal utility. The cages are cavernous, with over eight inches of animal headroom and 160 square inches of floor area. Visibility into cages is superior
due to the wide front face. Uses TWO standard OptiMICE® water bottles and a new 1.1 liter (1.2 qt.) stainless steel feeder.
Like the M.I.C.E.® and OptiMICE® systems, the OptiRAT® uses the same patented ventilation technology, and continues the GREEN trend of zero electrical
consumption with no motors or blowers. Of course, there are no allergens or odors from the OptiRAT® rack. The OptiRAT® will also be available with
polycarbonate, amber polysulfone, or smoke polysulfone cages. Contact Animal Care Systems for more details on this amazing new addition to our product line.
Autowater Precharge Station
Do you need to test and precharge your OptiMICE® cage mounted automatic watering valves during cage changing? This accessory can be configured for Edstrom Industries (P/N C79360) or
SE Lab Group valves (P/N C79365). It uses suction cups for easy bench mounting and removal, and handles can be configured for right or left hand operation. Made of heavy polished stainless steel.
Black Bottle Assemblies
Animal Care Systems is now offering both M.I.C.E. and OptiMICE system water bottles in opaque black color. This is to support increased customer
requests for a bottle that will block all UV light to the contents of the bottle. Many facilities are now medicating water with additives such as
antibiotics, which can be damaged or destroyed by exposure to light. No longer will it be necessary to wrap bottles in aluminum foil or paint them to
limit light transmittance.
Black bottles will be available only in polysulfone, therefore they are completely autoclavable at the highest temperatures normally used in the process.
With an OptiMICE stainless steel bottle cap or a M.I.C.E. system black bottle cap, these bottles can be cleaned and autoclaved repeatedly with no adverse

OptiMICE® Sac n Pack Feeder
This removable stainless steel feeder, installs in an OptiMICE® cage in place of the standard feeder and water bottle. It accommodates both
the Edstrom Sipper Sack and the Lab Products Hydro Pac. The Sac n Pack unit can be ordered for specific water bag preferences. The end
facing out has a window to allow viewing of the water level. Also includes an integrated scruffing grid - P/N C79330H (Hydro Pac) P/N C79330S (Sipper Sack).
OptiMICE® Improvements - Cage Card Clip
This removable stainless steel clip uses light pressure to secure the cage card in the card slot in front of the OptiMICE® cage. Now even thin custom
cage cards can be firmly held in place. The gently curved center spring allows for easy card insertion and removal. Installs in any OptiMICE®
cage and is fabricated from polished stainless steel. Now standard on all OptiMICE cages - P/N C40280.
